Providing world-class eye care
Eye diseases are very common in Iraq, partly due to the hash and extreme weather conditions, and partly due to the lack of health education. Medical experts also relate the phenomenon to the relatively high consumption of sugar used in traditional Iraqi tea. Under the patronage of the Grand Cleric (Marja) Sayyid Ali Seestani, the Kerbala Eye Clinic was setup in 2007 to provide screening and treatment, mostly for those who cannot afford to travel to the capital city, Baghdad, or abroad for eye care. Najaf Campaign contributed to the purchase of the initial high-tech machinery used at the Clinic.
